Shigeru Miyamoto is, without doubt, the king of Video game producers and designers. He was given an inaugural award and inducted into the famous Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame in 1998. He is deemed the most influential video game developer of all time and also won the industry heroes poll of the Develop Magazine. Some of his creations make up a handful of popular franchises like Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong and some other characters in the Wii games. Many of his recent titles have sold tens of millions of units. He was given a Lifetime Achievement award at the Game Developers Choice Awards in 2009. He also took a top position in the list of most influential people recently released by the Time Magazine. Most importantly, is the fact that his annual take home is $1.4 million in 2009 making him the second highest earner in Nintendo.
Meier took the fifth position in the industry poll organized by Develop Magazine of the best industry heroes. Not just that, he was the second person to be inducted into Academy of Interactive Arts and Science Hall of Fame. Some of his famous creative works include Civilization and Pirates games. He co-founded the Firaxis Games Company in 1996. The Company was later sold for 26.7 million dollars in 2005. Meier is a legend and a prosperous and well-admired game designer in the industry.
Hideo Kojima is serving as the current director for the Kojima Productions and also sits as the Vice President of the Konami Digital Entertainment. Over the course of his career, he has developed a lot of famous video games as well as many video game franchises to his name. Some of his favorite innovative projects include Boktai, Metal Gear, and Policenauts. Metal Gear series which is his most famous hit project has sold over 27 million copies worldwide. He was given the Lifetime Achievement Award for being the best game designer in 2008 at the MTV Games Awards. He received a second Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009 at the Game Developers Conference.
John Carmack has always been known for his groundbreaking and edge cutting game designs and programming skills. Some of the favorite creations are; Commander Keen and Quake and Doom.
Masaya began his career initially as a musician. It was in the 1990’s that he became interested in technological developments. He took his interest in tech a step higher by entering into the production of video games for music videos. His company NanaOn-Sha is famous for the following game niches music videos PaRappa and Vib Ribbon. He surveyed at least 9,000 video game developers in 2009 to inquire about their hero in the industry. He, Masaya took the eighth position in the survey. He has received various awards like the First Penguin award given to him in 2004 by the International Game Developers Association which was given in recognition of his contribution and innovation in the field.
